What is Lake?
Lake is a surface water body which is surrounded by land. It is any relatively large body of stagnant water that occupies the inland basin. Lakes are found in various geographical locations like Hilly areas, plains, plateaus, rift zones, etc. In this article, we will read state wise list of Important Lakes of India.
Lakes can be classified by two ways –

· Dal Lake is a lake in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir also known as the “Jewel in the crown of Kashmir” or “Srinagar’s Jewel”. Tulip garden is situated on Dal Lake.
· Nainital, Uttarakhand is knwn as Lake City of India.
