What is Lake?

Lake is a surface water body which is surrounded by land. It is any relatively large body of stagnant water that occupies the inland basin. Lakes are found in various geographical locations like Hilly areas, plains, plateaus, rift zones, etc. In this article, we will read state wise list of Important Lakes of India.

Lakes can be classified by two ways –

· Natural lakes.

· Artificial lakes.

India is known for its diverse culture and varied topographical features. Lakes are one of the major sources of natural beauty in India and there are many lakes in almost every state.
