Folk Dances of India

  • India is a land of diverse cultures and traditions. Indian folk and tribal dances are simple and is the common possession of a group of people or a particular locality or Community.
  • Folk and tribal dances of India, are performed on special occasions, such as harvesting, planting, marriages and religious holidays etc., the villagers gather and sing and dance, accompanying themselves on a variety of folk instruments.
  • Every part of India has its unique folk dance, which isn’t as complex as the classical form of dance but, in its simplicity, it reflects the deep-sited beliefs of their people.
  • On most occasions dancers sing themselves, accompanied by artists with instruments. Each variety of Folk Dance encompasses a specific costume & rhythm and some costumes are very colourful with extensive jewels and style.
